Car

We recommend that unless you know the city well, when travelling from the north, east and south you should approach Sheffield by the M1 (and M18 if necessary).  From the west, use the A57 Snake Pass via Glossop.  Parking is limited around Regent Court and so we suggest you either travel by public transport or use the Park and Ride sites below.

The recommended main routes to and from the University are indicated on the Central Sheffield map.

From M1, M18

Approach Sheffield on the M1 and leave the motorway at Junction 33, following the City Centre signs along the dual carriageway, A630/A57 Parkway, which ends in a large roundabout - Park Square.  From here, take the fifth exit, the A61(N), along Exchange Street  and Castlegate.  Go straight ahead onto Bridge Street and then West Bar, you'll pass the Law Courts on your left.  At the small roundabout (with the fire museum just in front of you), turn left onto West Bar Green.  At the next roundabout take the third exit onto Broad Lane, then go straight ahead at the traffic lights. You will eventually reach a large roundabout - Brook Hill roundabout.   Take the first exit from the roundabout onto Upper Hannover Street (A6134), then take the first left (with the Henderson's Relish factory on the corner)go.  For Regent Court, after turning left onto Leavygreave Road, take the first right onto Gell Street then go left at the bottom of the road onto West Street.  After this, take the third left (at the traffic lights, with Boots on one corner and a bridal shop on the other) on to Regent Street.  Regent Court is the red brick building at the top of the street on the right hand side.

From the West (A57)

Follow the 'City Centre' signs and then the signs for the University.   This route will take you past the main University campus on Western Bank and eventually onto the large roundabout - Brookhill roundabout.  At the roundabout take the fourth exit onto Upper Hannover Street (A6134) then follow the directions above.

Park and Ride

The easiest way for car drivers to travel to the RDSU is by Supertram Park and Ride.  It is the most convenient way to travel to the RDSU by car without having to drive through the city centre and find somewhere to park.  There are Park and Ride sites at Nunnery Square (off the Parkway), at Meadowhall Interchange (M1, junction 34) and Middlewood.   The Nunnery Square and Middlewood Park and Ride sites are staffed car parks with video surveillance.
