Welcome to Trent Research and Development Support Unit

Trent RDSU provides high level academic support aimed at increasing the quantity and quality of health services research, including health-related social care research.  Trent RDSU supports all within its area involved in research in health and health-related social care, although increasingly the RDSU is responding to requests for support from staff outside the area.  Trent Research and Development Support Unit is part of and is funded by the National Institute for Health Research.

Trent RDSU has academic partners in four universities across the region: University of Leicester, De Montfort University, University of Nottingham and the University of Sheffield.

If you are thinking of getting involved in research - or are already – and require support or specialist advice, then please consult the Services pages of our website to see what we can offer.  Our  General Leaflet also contains information on Trent RDSU's activities and remit.

Important!
From January 2009 Trent RDSU will be changing its name and remit to align with the NIHR's new Research Design Service. Our organisation will be called the 'National Institute for Health Research, Research Design Service for the East Midlands' (NIHR RDS for the East Midlands). Our focus will be on supporting teams to develop research for submission to NIHR funding streams and other open national health research funding opportunities. We will be announcing our new research design support service and training programme shortly along with the launch of a new website. For information on how to access our revised service please contact your local RDS/U administrators.
