The National Portfolio of Research Capacity Infrastructure contracts is managed by the NCCRCD as part of the National Research Capacity Development Programme.

The four main types of activity supported by these contracts are

• R&D Support
• Academic Activity
• Networking

RDSUs acitivties are to

• Provide consultative advice on research methodology and protocol development
• Support research training
• Collaborate in specific research projects

All RDSU facilities are available to all potential and established NHS researchers and the RDSU usually sits within a form of Higher Education Institution
