Services > Trent RDSU Awards > Designated Research TeamsThe former Trent Focus established the Designated Research Practice scheme in 1997. The purpose of the initiative was to identify and support a small number of outstanding individuals, allowing them to dedicate time to develop their research ideas. The initiative successfully enabled the practices involved to develop dedicated research facilities, initiate large portfolios of research, encourage staff to undertake research training, and free time for staff to participate in research. The research performed during the scheme also resulted in a growing number of relevant publications. The Designated Research Team (DRT) scheme evolved out of this, in recognition of the need for a multidisciplinary approach to health and health related social care research. Designated Research Team Awards are open to all health and health related social care practitioners in the Trent RDSU region*. No more than four groups within the region will be appointed and supported for a period of two years. Priority will be given to multi-disciplinary teams. Each team will be funded at the level of £14,000 per year. *covering Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire and South Yorkshire. NB: these awards can only be allocated to NHS and Social Care budgets.
To apply to be a DRT please download the guidance notes and complete the application form or alternatively, contact Michaela Barton (tel 0114 222 8372) for an application form.
