Staff at Trent RDSU offer a wide range of skills and expertise. We offer support in the general principles of research design as well as specialised methodological fields such statistical advice and support, qualitative research and health economics.

Additionally, we have skills and experience across a diverse range of subject areas and settings including public health, health technology assessment, health information, workforce and quality and safety in health care. Trent RDSU staff are currently engaged in more than 130 different research projects across six research themes.

We work closely with our partner organisations to help identify appropriate research projects and potential funding sources. We may become involved in research at a number of different levels, starting with the provision of basic advice and support to active collaboration or as principle investigator.


Other areas in which we support research activity and collaboration include;

  • Trent RDSU has expertise in research management and governance
  • We work closely with the Clinical Trials Support Units at Leicester, Nottingham and Sheffield
  • We have links with over 50 local, national and international networks
  • By supporting the Collaborative Research Network, we provide researchers with access to a large number of general practices within the Trent region that are interested in being involved in research.

 

Support for research capacity

Trent RDSU provides funding to support research capacity building in the form of Designated Research Teams and Research Capacity Development Awards. Additionally, we provide information about a wide range of external funding sources.
