Services > Training / Short Courses

Trent RDSU runs its own short courses, New Researchers Training Programme, Modules and Information Services for NHS and related social care professionals wishing to acquire or improve their research skills.

Courses are offered in a range of subject areas including, statistics, health economics, research methods and design, and health information skills. Courses are at introductory, intermediate and advanced level. Most introductory and intermediate courses are offered in blocks, with some blocks proceeding from introductory to intermediate level.

Introductory courses are aimed at those just starting research, or as refreshers, and presume little or no prior knowledge. Intermediate courses are aimed at those at an early stage in their research careers, or seeking to fill gaps in their knowledge, and offer practical guides in how to do research. Advanced courses are aimed at those already involved in research who need to extend their skills.

To see which courses are available please visit the Courses/Advice section of the website. You can reserve a place on a course either on-line or via your local administrator. Bookings can be made up to two days before the course date. Trent RDSU reserves the right to cancel courses if there are insufficient people booked on to them. In this event you will be advised of an alternative course to suit your needs, which may be running at one of our other units. Alternatively the course may be rescheduled at a later date.

It has been agreed that short courses delivered at each Trent RDSU site will be FREE for NHS and social care staff from September 2006. Charges will remain for the New Researchers Training Programme and for courses delivered on-site at local NHS Trusts Our Eligibility and Charging Policy document sets out the guidelines to which all of the Trent RDSU units work.
